Baby Bath Safety
Splish Splash Baby Loves to Take a Bath!! Baby Bath Safety!
Bath time has so many benefits beyond cleaning your baby! It provides a sensory experience, can calm a fussy baby down at the end of the day, and can create a special ritual and bond.
Follow these baby bath safety tips to keep your baby safe
- Temperature
- Non slip surface
- Full attention
Bath Temperature
- Only use warm water. Safe water temperature is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius
- Keep water heater set to 120 degrees Fahrenheit to avoid burns
- Test the temperature of the water with your elbow
- You don’t need very much water-2 inches is enough!
Safe Bath Surface
- Use a hard plastic baby tub with a sling (I loved this one with both of my boys!) or a sink
- A nonslip mat is a must if you have an older baby
- Do not use a bath seat or chair that can tip over
- Use a bath spout cover
Full Attention on Baby
- Gather all your supplies before the bath—Towels, washcloth, baby wash
- Never leave your baby unattended! Even for a second!
- Drain the water immediately after the bath
Baby Bath Toys
Bath time is more fun when you have some cute bath toys! Here are some of my favorites!
